History

In 1996 our building was donated to the City of Plainwell. A citizen advisory committee of forward thinking individuals was created envisioning its use as a Community Center that would provide a safe and comfortable place for area residents to meet.  In 1997 the Plainwell Area Community Center was established, organized into a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation with a mission "to provide a center for residents of all ages in the Plainwell Area" and its first board of directors was appointed.

Leased annually from the City of Plainwell for $1 the Plainwell Area Community Center is guided by a volunteer board of directors who are responsible for the day to day operations and major improvements.

The building you see today is the result of the efforts of many and continues to evolve. Major improvements are funded by donations and foundation grants. Operational expenses are paid from rental income.

Volunteers continue to be the backbone of the Plainwell Area Community Center and we invite you to join us.
